Loving Kindness

Hello Lovely Souls! It’s April!

My crocuses are budding like deep purple and lilac amethyst crystals in the dark soil of my gardens. The daffodils and hyacinths, slower, as expected, but their tips pushing taller and taller each mild day. The crocuses give us that burst of spring color we so need after all the white snow and bleak, gray skies!

However, those of us at the highest elevations in Vermont still have snow piles—shrinking, yes, but lingering. I feel a little bit caught between the seasons--the mantle of winter not quite off my shoulders while the vibrant energy frequency of longer days urges me to do more: “Look, it’s still light out! Still time to tick a few things off the to-do list!”

Ha! Not this year, I reply. This year, the part of me that likes to tap into the springtime flush of energy and push me to do, do, do—well, I’m not listening to her quite so much, not listening to her edicts. She likes to walk with the Perfectionist in me, and goodness, when they get together, my stress levels jump up several degrees!

So, no. Not pushing. Or, rather, I'm being aware of when I’m pushing and dialing it back. Because life is not a race. It is not to be glossed over or glanced at through the haze of those “should” and “must” and “have-to” thoughts clouding the mind. It’s much more important to really see and feel the simple interactions with the people, animals, and Nature I love, to revel in the mundane and the beauty of slowness, to shine Light on others and send undercurrents of joy and appreciation when I can. This is a form of loving kindness. This is a beautifully spiritual way to flow with life and its currents of connection and support that exist, unseen but ever-present.

I say, “when I can” because sometimes, I have my own personal undercurrents making my Light energy a little dimmer. We all have this happen, whether we are aware of it or not. So, please, do shine your Light of loving kindness when you have that surplus of high vibes to share because someone is, undoubtedly, in need, and will, hopefully, be doing the same sharing when they can. What goes around comes around, indeed!

As the spring flowers begin to bloom, as life returns to the fields, forests and farms around us, may you, too, find the sacred in the mundane, the kindness in a stranger’s smile or wave, the serene flow in the weavings of Light between all of us.

With Love, Light, and Deep Peace,

Donna
